Take Me Somewhere believes that accessibility is an essential part of making and presenting boundary pushing performance. We endeavour to make the festival as welcoming and easy to engage with as possible. The programme spans a range of different performances, access provisions and locations.

This page has detailed information about access provisions across our programme and venue access information. It will be updated as we announce our full programme.

CONTACT

Access Key

Our Access Key identifies any access provisions that are in place for performances or events in our programme. These are represented by symbols and letters that can be found on show pages, programme and posters.

V | Visual

Work that is highly visual with minimal or no text.

R | Relaxed*

*These shows have some elements of a Relaxed Performance but may not be Fully Relaxed performances.

Relaxed Performances adapt or soften some of the social ‘norms’ and sensory experiences of the theatre to make them more welcoming to audiences, including neurodivergent and learning disabled people.

S | Sound Based

Work that is primarily sound based such as audio works, gigs or text based performances.

AD | Audio Description

This show has Audio Description available. Audio description (AD) is additional commentary that explains what's visually happening on stage.  Also known as visual description, AD describes body language, expressions and movements, making the programme clear through sound.

AD will either be integrated into the performance for everyone, or delivered via headsets which can be collected from the box office. Details can be found on each show page.

CC | Captioned

Unless otherwise stated, captions express all text spoken, and any descriptions of background sound that informs the action onstage.

TT | Touch Tour

A touch tour will be available. A Touch Tour is catered towards visually impaired audiences so they can have access to the set, costumes, or performers of a production, prior to the show. Performance specific info will be provided on the show page.

BSL | BSL Interpreted

Performances will be interpreted by British Sign Language interpreters. Information on show pages will detail information about creative integration of BSL or recommended sight lights.

SP | Subpacs

Subpacs will be available for the performance. Subpacs are wearable vests that convert sound and bass into vibrations. 2-3 Subpacs are available per show and can be reserved via Tramway Box Office, or collected on entry to the performance.

Relaxed*

For Take Me Somewhere, all shows marked as Relaxed* mean as a standard you can expect:

  • Sound and Lighting levels have not been changed (unless stated otherwise), but detailed sensory and content notes are provided

  • Audiences can leave and re-enter the theatre

  • Audiences are welcome to move, tic, stim or make noise

  • Details of additional measures for Relaxed Performances can be found on each show page.

SENSORY NOTES

All performances have Sensory notes to highlight sensory information about the show in advance. Some examples of sensory notes include:

  • SOUND: Loud Music or Sudden Loud Sounds

  • LIGHT: Full Blackout, Flashing Lights or Strobe

  • SCENT: Strong Smells or Chemicals

  • INTERACTION: Audience Interaction or Audience Participation

  • OTHER: Food Allergens or Alcohol

CONTENT NOTES

All performances have Content Notes to highlight any themes or content in the work which might trigger strong emotions or discomfort for some audience members and the level at which the work explores this (eg. mention or explicit).

Content notes are about showing care and respect for audiences, allowing you to make an informed choice about whether to engage with a theme or topic, particularly if it relates to your lived experience.

If you want to discuss the theme or content of a work to identify whether the show is right for you, please get in touch. support@takemesomewhere.co.uk
