Take Me Somewhere is porous and permeable through participation in international networks and projects, sharing expertise and resources to generate opportunities and relationships between Scottish artists and the wider world.

We’ve collaborated on a number of unique, one-off or time-limited projects. While these programmes are now complete, their impact continues to inform our work.

Previous Projects

Actoral Exchange (2024)

Take Me Somewhere x Actoral was a 2024 collaboration between Take Me Somewhere and Actoral Festival in Marseille, building artistic connections and touring opportunities between Scotland and France. The exchange included a Scottish focus at Actoral, featuring performances by Rosana Cade & Ivor MacAskill, Mele Broomes, and a cabaret curated by Miss Plastica with Shawn Nayar, Craig Manson, and Mamoru Iriguchi. In return, Marseille-based artist Némo Flouret joined a residency at Studio Somewhere in Glasgow. This partnership was supported by the British Council’s UK/France Spotlight on Culture Programme.

Pen pals / Rélations épistolaires (2023)

Pen Pals / Rélations épistolaires was a transatlantic exchange between artists in Glasgow and Montréal, co-delivered by Take Me Somewhere and CCOV (Centre de Création O Vertigo). Over three months in 2023, artists explored wellbeing—personal, ecological, and communal—through video letters, written correspondence, and evolving creative exchange. The project fostered spacious, reflective dialogue across distance, culminating in a public conversation between all participants. This collaboration was supported by the Québec Government Office in London.

The Centre of Somewhere: Johannesburg / Glasgow (2022 - 2023)

The Centre of Somewhere was a collaborative residency project between Take Me Somewhere and The Centre for the Less Good Idea (Johannesburg), running from September 2022 to March 2023. Four artists, two from Glasgow and two from Johannesburg, took part in an embedded exchange exploring performance, connection, and wellbeing across both cities. The project culminated in presentations during Take Me Somewhere’s festival, featuring works by South African artists including Mamela Nyamza, Goldendean, Desire Marea, and Kieron Jina. Funded by the British Council’s International Collaboration Grants, the residency fostered long-term creative relationships and new international networks.
